Volleyball Keeps Unblemished Record Intact

Team coming together after a point
@ Monroe

The women's volleyball team handed Monroe CC their first loss of the season with a 3-1 victory in Rochester on Tuesday evening. Much like the last match against the Region's top ranked team, the Hornets (6-0) started out slow against the Tribunes (6-1) dropping the first set 22-25 before dominating the second set 25-9. Broome fought hard to win the last two sets 25-19 and 25-22.

Melissa Carden (Vestal) led the team with 14 kills for the match with a .393 hitting percentage as well as leading the team in blocks (4) and aces (3). Mackenzie Struble (Owego) also came out of the match with 3 aces, but brought in a total of 41 assists, and 5 kills with a .500 hitting percentage. Teammates Sara Zepkowski (Owego) and Katherine Bennorth (Wanaque, NJ) also contributed to the Hornet's offense with 10 kills and 9 kills respectively. Libero, Savannah Davis (Union-Endicott), had a great game putting up a total of 32 digs.

The Hornets will welcome Keystone College and ex-Hornet coach Mae Eddinger at 6:00 P.M. in the West Gym this Thursday in a non-regional match.
