The women's basketball team hosted nationally ranked #11 Jefferson CC on Saturday, losing 76-33.
The Cannoneers are the top team in the current NJCAA Region III standings, and were ranked #11 in the country on Saturday, subsequently moving up to #10 in the latest poll.
Jefferson started the game off strong and did not look back, holding a 14-point lead after the first quarter and a 26-point lead at the half. The Hornets closed the game by turning in their best showing of the day in the fourth quarter, but the gap was too far to close.
Jayla Marke led SUNY Broome in scoring with 11 points on an efficient 4-7 shooting from the field. Zephora Brouillette followed in scoring with six points. Madeline Hyzer, Juliana Turner and Brouillette all finished the contest with eight rebounds a piece.
The loss dropped the Hornets to 2-8 on the season and 0-3 in conference play.
