The women's basketball team hosted a conference opponent in the Panthers on Sunday, losing 51-38.
Despite playing four competitive quarters and outscoring Tompkins Cortland in the fourth, the Hornets' 29-18 halftime deficit was ultimately too much to overcome.
The Panthers had four players score in double figures while two Hornets reached the double-digit mark. SUNY Broome leading scorer Lillian Monroe had 12 points and three rebounds. Sophia Ashman was next in scoring with 10 points, four assists, three rebounds, and three steals.
Madeline Hyzer and Zephora Brouillette were active on the boards for the Hornets, pulling down seven and 10 rebounds, respectively. SUNY Broome shot just 26% from the field in the loss.
The Hornets drop to 2-9 on the season and 0-4 in conference play.
This week, SUNY Broome will visit Finger Lakes CC on Wednesday and host Fulton-Montgomery CC on Sunday.
