A competitive game early shifted into a runaway win for the Lakers in the second half. The visiting Hornets trailed just 15-12 after one quarter, and remained in striking distance at halftime, down 31-21.
Finger Lakes pulled away with a dominant third quarter, outscoring the Hornets by 14 in that stanza. The home team took a 24-point lead into the fourth quarter and closed out the contest for a 59-37 win.
Freshman Sophia Ashman led SUNY Broome in scoring with 14 points. She added six rebounds, five steals, and four assists. Lillian Monroe was next in the scoring column with a line of 11 points, four rebounds, and a steal. Juliana Turner chipped in six points and three rebounds. Madeline Hyzer was critical for the Hornets on the boards, pulling down 13 rebounds.
The loss moved the Hornets to 2-10 overall and 0-5 in MSAC play. SUNY Broome will return home on Sunday to host the Fulton-Montgomery CC Raiders at 1:00 PM.
