Men's Soccer Team Picks Up First Win

In the third game of the season for BCC, the hornets secured their first victory of the season on the road with a 3-1 win over the Corning CC Red Barons. The Hornets took the lead in the 6th minute when a free kick by Nathan Mansfield (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay-East Fishkill) was rebounded by the Red Barons keeper into the path of Ryan Bunker (Kirkwood, NY/Susquehanna Valley), who neatly finished it off into the back of the net giving the Hornets a 1-0 lead. The Hornets struck again in the 20th minute when Joshua Wlostowski (Vestal, NY/Vestal) dribbled two defenders in the box and tucked away the ball in the back of the net off a cross from the left wing by Christian Rosics (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City), giving the Hornets a 2-0 lead. The Red Barons got one back in the 43rd minute when Tyler Goosseh passed a ball forward to Li Molingou who struck the ball into the lower side of the Hornets net. The Hornets would finish off the game with one more goal in the 80th minute when Guido McKenzie (Brooklyn, NY/Clara Barton) flicked the ball into the path of Wlostowski, who ran with the ball to the right hand side of the box and fired a shot past the Red Barons keeper into the bottom left corner for the third goal of the night. Goalkeeper Tyler Elliott (Vestal, NY/Vestal) had 5 stops in net for his first win of the season while his counterpart Rhett Seeley stopped 7.

Broome (1-2) looks to keep the streak going as they face the Niagara County CC Thunder Wolves at home this Saturday 3:00 PM.
