Women's Soccer Opens Season With A Win

SUNY Broome Women's Soccer had a successful start to the 2015 campaign with a 3-0 Victory over conference rival Finger Lakes CC in Canandaigua this afternoon. A hard fought first half ended with the Hornets up 1-0 on a goal by Kaelyn Michitti (Binghamton, NY/Seton Catholic) in the 35th minute courtesy of an assist from Rosemary Zelenyak (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley).  The second half was all Broome out shooting the home team 16 to 2 and taking an insurmountable lead in the 88th minute on a goal by Mikaela Mazzerole (Maryland, NY/Oneonta) from a give and go inside the box with Alexa Rudilosso (Centereach, NY/Centereach). The second goal came as a result of a long flip throw from Shelby Brassard (Spring Grove, PA/Homeschool) to Amanda Tersigni (Edmeston, NY/Edmeston) who trapped the ball just outside the area, turned and put a perfect ball over the oncoming Goalkeeper

The Hornets open at home next Wednesday at Alumni Field with another conference game against Corning CC at 4:00 PM.
