Broome Picks Up MSAC Win At Home

The SUNY Broome men's basketball team picked up a  MSAC win at home Saturday against Cayuga CC 69-52.  The first half was played close as neither team built a lead larger than 5 with the Hornets taking the lead at the break 33-30.  In the second half Broome built their lead on the solid play on the defensive end of the floor, holding Cayuga to only 22 points in the second half.

The Hornets offensive effort was led by Dashown Nelson (Brooklyn, NY / HS of Telecommunication Arts & Technology) who put up 26 points including four 3-pointers, 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Chris Smith (Queens, NY/Newtown) had a solid all around game turning in 15 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. James Saunders (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) added 10 points and Matthew Bowman (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) came up big off the bench with 8 points and 7 rebounds.

Up next for the Hornets is a road trip to Corning CC for a 7:00 p.m. MSAC game against the Red Barons.
