On the road at Shuttleworth Park in Amsterdam, NY against the Raiders, SUNY Broome dropped a 14-8 final in game one and lost a 15-5 final in game two.
Game 1: SUNY Broome 8, FMCC 14
The Hornets scored a run in the top of the 1st but surrendered four in the bottom half. SUNY Broome managed to tie things up at 5-5 in the top of the 4th, but Fulton-Montgomery answered with four runs in the bottom half to retake the lead. Five runs in the bottom of the 5th increased the Raiders' lead to 14-5 and Broome's comeback attempt in the top of the 7th was cut short after three runs. The Hornets were outhit 16-11 in the opening game.
Jason Kithcart Jr. was on the mound for Broome and allowed eight earned runs on 12 hits over 4.0 innings, striking out two. Peyton Farrell and Evan Persbacker each appeared in relief. Farrell allowed five earned runs in one inning of work while Persbacker struck out two and didn't allow any baserunners over a scoreless inning of relief.
Offensively, seven different Hornets registered a hit in the contest. Kithcart Jr. led the charge with a 2-3 performance, roping a double and blasting a home run, driving in two runs. Santino Michitti was excellent at the plate with a 3-4 performance with two doubles and two RBIs. Darlyn De Los Angeles also had two hits. Zechariah Clouston had a double. Jacob McTigue, Kaiden Cannistra, Kobe Dela Cruz, and Michael Albertine all had one RBI each.
Game 2: SUNY Broome 5, FMCC 15
SUNY Broome got down 3-0 early in the second leg of the doubleheader. After Broome tied the score at 3-3 in the top of the 3rd, Fulton-Montgomery retook the lead in the bottom half. The Raiders plated four runs in the 4th and 5th innings to pull away for the win and secure the sweep. Fulton-Montgomery outhit SUNY Broome again, this time with a 16-10 advantage.
Clouston got the start for the Hornets in game two and allowed five earned runs on six hits and five walks over 3.0 innings. Joseph Chermak was touched up for six earned runs over one inning of relief, and Persbacker gave up three earned runs over an inning of work.
Carmelo Alessandro sparked the Hornets' offense with a 2-3 performance with a home run, his second of the season, and an RBI. Nicholas Ragonese drove in two runs. Clouston stayed hot with two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Michitti went 2-3 with a double and Kithcart Jr. drove in a run.
The Hornets fell to 4-10 on the season with the two losses.
