
Baseball Sweeps SUNY Adirondack On The Road

The Hornets took game one 10-3 and took game two 11-2.
Game 1: SUNY Broome 10, SUNY Adirondack 3
The Hornets struck for 10 hits and capitalized on six SUNY Adirondack errors to win the opening game in dominant fashion. The Hornets added on to a 4-0 lead with six runs in the 6th inning, going up 10-0 en route to the win.
Broome started the scoring in the top of the 3rd thanks to RBIs from: Nicholas Ragonese on a triple, Jacob McTigue on a single, and Jason Kithcart Jr. on a sacrifice bunt. After plating another run in the 4th, it was a six-run 6th inning that played key to the Hornets' victory. Kaiden Cannistra singled in a run, another run scored on an error, Carmelo Alessandro hit a sacrifice fly, Kithcart Jr. singled in two runs, and Zechariah Clouston singled in another run.
McTigue was 2-2, Kithcart Jr. was 1-2, Ragonese was 1-2, and Alessandro was 2-3.
Kithcart Jr. was the starting pitcher and was dominant over 6.0 innings, earning his 4th win of the season. He allowed just one run, unearned, and struck out six. Nathan Moses closed it out in the 7th.
Game 2: SUNY Broome 11, SUNY Adirondack 2
The Hornets continued to mash against the Timberwolves' pitching, logging 14 hits in game two.
SUNY Broome took a 2-0 lead in the 3rd after Santino Michitti had a two-RBI single. In the 4th, the Hornets extended their lead to 6-0 after: McTigue had an RBI single, Ragonese scored on an error, Michitti drove in one on a single, and Cannistra brought in a run on a fielder's choice. SUNY Broome would pick up another four-run inning in the top of the 7th when: McTigue had an RBI single, Kithcart Jr. had an RBI single, McTigue stole home, and Clouston drove in Kithcart Jr. on a triple.
McTigue was 4-5 in the contest with three RBIs. Michitti was 3-5 with three RBIs. Cannistra and Alessandro each had two hits in the win.
McTigue continued his dominance on both sides of the ball, picking up his sixth win of the season in a complete-game effort. Over 7.0 innings, he allowed just four hits and no earned runs. He struck out eight and walked just three.
The sweep of the Timberwolves improved the Hornets' record to 18-23 overall and reinforced their position as a top-4 team in the standings of the East Division of Region III.
