SUNY Broome allowed 36 runs over a doubleheader vs Genesee, dropping both legs.
A high-scoring affair in the opening game saw Genesee pull out a 19-10 win. Then the Cougars rode their momentum to a 17-0 shutout win the the second leg, earning the sweep.
Game 1: SUNY Broome 10, Genesee 19
The Hornets had a 5-0 lead but then allowed 10 Genesee runs in the 3rd. The Cougars didn't look back and pulled off the win. Broome had 12 hits in the loss and Genesee had 22.
The Hornets plated four runs in the 1st inning thanks to RBIs from: a Jason Kithcart Jr. triple; a Kobe Dela Cruz walk; a Nicholas Ragonese walk; and a Connor Normile Jr. single. Darlyn De Los Angeles added a sacrifice fly in the 2nd to extend the lead to 5-0. The Cougars flipped the game around after that, outscoring Broome 19-5 the rest of the way.
McTigue was 3-5 with a double and two RBIs in the loss. Michitti went 3-4 with a double and an RBI. Ragonese was 2-2 with a double and two RBIs.
Joseph Chermak started on the mound for the Hornets and just two of the 10 runs he surrendered were earned. He walked two and struck out two.
Game 2: SUNY Broome 0, Genesee 17
The Cougars stayed hot following the win in game one and no-hit the Hornets en route to a 17-0 win in five innings in game two. Genesee scored in every inning of the contest. SUNY Broome allowed 13 hits in the loss.
McTigue and De Los Angeles reached base by walk. Kaiden Cannistra was the starting pitcher for the Hornets. He allowed two hits, walked five, and struck out two over 2.0 innings pitched.
The Hornets dropped to 9-17 with the two losses.
