The Hornets won the first game 8-4 and then added a dominant 10-1 victory in the second game.
Game 1: SUNY Broome 8, Mohawk Valley 4
SUNY Broome scored a run in the top of the 1st but the Hawks answered with a grand slam in the bottom of the inning to go up 4-1. The Hornets would plate two runs in the 3rd, two runs in the 6th, and three runs in the 7th to eventually pull off the come-from-behind win.
Clouston doubled home a run in the 1st to open up the scoring for Broome. When the Hornets cut the Hawks' lead to 4-3 in the 3rd, it was Jason Kithcart Jr. with a solo home run and Darlyn De Los Angeles with a sacrifice fly. When the Hornets took a 5-4 lead in the 6th, it was Nicholas Ragonese with an RBI double and Jacob McTigue with a solo home run.
Santino Michitti was 3-4 in the contest. Kobe Dela Cruz went 2-4 with an RBI. Carmelo Alessandro was 1-3 with two RBIs. Clouston was 3-4 with a double and an RBI in game one.
Peyton Farrell earned his second win of the season on the mound, allowing four runs over 6.0 innings pitched and striking out four.
Game 2: SUNY Broome 10, Mohawk Valley 1
SUNY Broome took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning and would never relinquish its advantage, outhitting the Hawks 11-2 in the victory.
Dela Cruz started the scoring for the Hornets with an RBI single. Clouston would hit his first of two home runs in game two when he drove a two-run homer to right field in the 3rd. Alessandro also had a two-RBI double in the 3rd.
Clouston hit his second homer of the game in the 6th, belting a three-run home run to right field.
Kaiden Cannistra continued his red-hot week at the plate by going 2-2 in the contest.
Kithcart Jr. got the start on the mound and earned his third win of the season. He allowed just one run over 3.0 innings pitched. McTigue demonstrated his two-way skill by adding to his home run in the first game with a dominant pitching performance in the second game. He earned his fourth save of the year by pitching 4.0 hitless and scoreless innings in relief of Kithcart Jr., striking out seven and walking just two.
Across the two games on the day, Clouston batted 6-8 (.750) with two home runs, a double, and eight RBIs. The sweep marks four wins in a row for the Hornets and improves their record to 13-18 on the season.
