SUNY Broome was outscored by a total of 21-3 in a doubleheader loss to the Spartans on Sunday.
On the road at Falcon Park in Auburn, NY the Hornets dropped the first game by a score of 10-2 and lost the second game by a score of 11-1.
Game 1: SUNY Broome 2, Cayuga CC 10
Strong defense was played by both sides to open up the first game, as no runs crossed the plate until the 4th inning. After SUNY Broome went up 1-0, Cayuga plated six runs in the bottom half of the 4th. The Spartans added on to their lead with two runs in the 5th and 6th to pull out a comfortable win. Cayuga outhit Broome 10-6.
Nathan Moses got the start on the rubber for the Hornets and allowed seven earned runs over 5.0 innings. Michael Albertine appeared in relief and allowed two earned runs over one inning of work.
Darlyn De Los Angeles was responsible for two of the Hornets' six hits in the contest. He went 2-3 with a double and an RBI. Jacob McTigue, Zechariah Clouston, Kaiden Cannistra, and Carmelo Alessandro each had a hit in the loss.
Game 2: SUNY Broome 1, Cayuga CC 11
SUNY Broome again got on the board early but could not stay ahead. Cayuga moved in front for a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 2nd and held the Hornets scoreless the rest of the way en route to a commanding win. The Spartans outhit SUNY Broome 14-5.
Joseph Chermak was the starting pitcher for the Hornets, going 2.0 innings and allowing two earned runs on three walks. Albertine came into the game in relief and was blitzed for seven runs, five earned, over 2.0 innings. Nicholas Ragonese gave up two earned runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Clouston continued his productive weekend with a hit and an RBI. Jason Kithcart Jr. was 1-3. Cannistra was 1-2 with a walk and a run scored. Santino Michitti and Kobe Dela Cruz also had one hit each.
The two losses brought Broome's record to 4-12 on the year.
