The men's basketball team traveled to Watertown, NY on Wednesday and played Jefferson CC, losing 76-64.

It was a tale of two halves for Broome in this one. The short-handed Hornets were overmatched in the first half as the Cannoneers offense raced out to 47 points at halftime and a 28-point lead.

Broome, however, began to fire on more cylinders in the second half, hanging 45 points of their own on Jefferson. The Hornets outscored the home team by 16 points and closed the gap to just a 12-point deficit, dropping the contest 76-64. The visitors shot 14-20 from the free-throw line (70%) and collected 32 rebounds, each being key factors in the fueling of their comeback attempt.

Antonio Maria led the way in scoring for Broome, totaling 13 points. He chipped in two rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Ibrahima Sow stepped up and jumped into the starting lineup, providing a lift to the Hornets in the form of 11 points, seven rebounds, and a block. Quavir Coleman was a big spark off the bench for the visiting team. His 12 points made him the Hornets' second-leading scorer, while he also stuffed the box score with eight rebounds, three steals, two assists, and a block. Coleman's eight rebounds were a team-high. Point guard Axell Camacho-Cintron added seven points, five assists, and three rebounds.

With the loss, the Hornets fall to 3-6 on the season and 3-4 in conference play. Jefferson improves to 6-2 overall and 5-2 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference with the win.

Broome will look to get back in the win column with a two-game weekend at home coming up. The Hornets will host Clinton CC (NY) on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and North Country CC at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.
